Academics

Upon admission, students are assessed to determine their reading, writing, and math proficiency. This information (in combination with transcripts from their school of residence, current Individual Education Plan, and unique individual needs) is utilized in determining academic courses needed to meet their high school graduation requirements.

Our curriculum follows the common core standards that have been adopted by nearly every state, using teachers who are qualified in their respective areas of expertise. All classrooms are maintained to a small size of no more than 12 students, allowing for maximum student-to-teacher interaction and permitting teachers and staff to address the diverse abilities of each student.

Professional reading and speech specialists are also available for one-on-one sessions with students.

IEP Students

Student’s Individual Education Plans are implemented and maintained throughout each student’s stay.  Teachers and therapists collaborate to assist students in reaching their goals and objectives. Goal progress is reported quarterly, objectives are measured as identified in the IEP, with annual assessments and testing.
Cinnamon Hills is able to accommodate specific reporting programs used by multiple school districts. All academic goals are identified using the California State Standards. Behavior goals are developed with therapeutic support to address the emotional needs that are preventing students from making academic gains.

Non-IEP Students

Students without current Individual Education Plans will have their academic needs assessed and a plan developed to help them achieve success in the classroom. Their coursework will mirror their school of residence and they may have the option to obtain a Utah High School Diploma.
